Job Description

HVAC Technician

Position Summary

We are hiring a full-time HVAC Technician to support a large manufacturing and engineering facility in Rockford, IL. This role is a great fit for someone early in their HVAC career who wants to grow their technical skills in a stable, team-oriented environment.

You’ll help maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC systems and facility equipment while working alongside experienced technicians.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and basic repairs on HVAC and facility systems
  • Troubleshoot heating, cooling, and ventilation equipment
  • Inspect, clean, and replace HVAC components as needed
  • Support preventive maintenance activities
  • Respond to service calls and assist with system repairs
  • Work with HVAC controls, air handling units, boilers, and related equipment
  • Use tools, meters, and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively
  • Follow safety procedures and company standards
  • Work indoors and outdoors, including rooftops and mechanical spaces when needed

Required Experience / Skills

  • 1–3 years of HVAC experience or trade school training
  • EPA Universal Certification preferred or ability to obtain
  • Basic understanding of HVAC systems and troubleshooting
  • Willingness to learn and grow in commercial/industrial HVAC
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and work in physical environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS)
  • OSHA certification
  • Experience with boilers, controls, or commercial HVAC systems
  • Trade school or technical HVAC training

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • HVAC or technical trade school preferred

Location & Clearance Requirements

  • Rockford, IL
  • Must be able to pass a government background screening

Compensation & Benefits

  • $25–28/hour (Annual $52-$58k)
