Job Description
A leader in residential and light commercial HVAC services is hiring for an HVAC Technician based in Harleysville, PA.
The HVAC Technician handles residential maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, replacements, and occasional installs in occupied homes and existing buildings. The role delivers safe, code-compliant service, clear communication, and a 5-star customer experience while coordinating with dispatch, office staff, management, and field teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, service, and repair furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, boilers, and related components.
- Inspect systems, diagnose performance issues, and present repair or replacement options and upgrades.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration problems using appropriate meters and tools.
- Perform routine maintenance: coil cleaning, filter changes, refrigerant checks/charging per EPA guidance.
- Install, modify, or repair ductwork to meet airflow and ventilation requirements.
- Test and verify safe, efficient system operation; record readings and results.
- Educate customers on findings, options, and preventive maintenance.
- Document labor, materials, start-up data, and noted issues accurately in the work order system.
- Follow OSHA, company policies, and NFPA 70E procedures; maintain a clean, organized, mechanically sound vehicle.
- Adhere to uniform and appearance standards.
- Operate a company vehicle to complete scheduled service and installation assignments.
- Participate in ongoing training; stay current with codes, best practices, and product updates.
Key Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Five or more years of HVAC service/installation experience, or equivalent technical training plus experience.
- Working knowledge of HVAC systems, diagnostics, and repair best practices.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Trade math proficiency; skilled with hand and power tools. Must supply personal hand tools.
- Comfortable using smartphones/tablets for dispatch, documentation, and communication.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- EPA certification preferred (not required).
- Professional communication and teamwork with customers and colleagues.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with high-efficiency equipment, heat pumps, boilers, and IAQ accessories.
- Familiarity with static pressure testing, airflow balancing, and duct design adjustments.
- Prior compliance with NFPA 70E and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Proven ability to present and close appropriate system enhancements and maintenance agreements.
Physical Demands:
- Regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk, sit, reach, and handle tools/materials.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Visual acuity: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
- Work may involve ladders, confined spaces, attics, basements, and outdoor conditions.
