Request ID: 90921-1Title: IBM Cognos Architect / Data Engineering LeadLocations: Boston MADuration: 6 MonthsPay Range: $50 - $55/Hour on W2/C2C (All inclusive)Role Descriptions: We are seeking an experienced IBM Cognos Architect with strong Data Engineering expertise to design, develop, and optimize enterprise data and reporting solutions. The role requires deep expertise in Cognos Framework Manager, IBM DataStage, and PL/SQL, along with exposure to modern data platforms such as Databricks and Apache Spark. The ideal candidate will play a key role in data architecture, ETL design, reporting strategy, and modernization initiatives, especially in a BFSI environment.Key Responsibilities Architecture & Design· Lead the design and implementation of enterprise BI and data warehousing solutions using IBM Cognos and DataStage· Develop scalable data models and frameworks using Cognos Framework Manager (FM)· Define data architecture standards, governance, and best practices· Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate reporting requirements into technical solutions Cognos Development & Reporting· Architect and build complex reports, dashboards, and packages in IBM Cognos Analytics· Optimize query performance and reporting frameworks for large-scale datasets· Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and performance of reporting layers Data Engineering (ETL & Database)· Design and develop ETL pipelines using IBM DataStage· Write and optimize PL/SQL procedures, functions, and queries for data processing· Ensure high-quality data integration across multiple upstream/downstream systems Modern Data Platform Integration· Contribute to data modernization initiatives leveraging: o Databricks o Apache Spark (Scala/PySpark)· Integrate traditional BI systems with cloud-based or big data platforms· Enable hybrid data solutions (on-prem + cloud) Performance & Optimization· Identify and resolve bottlenecks in ETL and reporting processes· Implement performance tuning strategies across Cognos, DataStage, and databases· Drive automation and efficiency improvements in data pipelines Stakeholder Management & Leadership· Engage with business, data, and technology teams for requirement gathering and solution alignment· Provide technical leadership and mentoring to development teams· Participate in solution design discussions, architecture reviews, and governance forums---Required Skills & Experience Primary Skills· Strong hands-on experience with: o IBM Cognos Analytics & Framework Manager (FM) o IBM DataStage (ETL development & optimization) o PL/SQL (advanced level)· Proven experience in data warehousing and BI architecture· Strong understanding of dimensional modeling (Star/Snowflake schemas) Secondary / Good-to-Have Skills· Experience with Databricks platform· Hands-on development using: o Apache Spark (Scala or PySpark)· Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP) is a plus--- Domain Experience· Preferably experience in Banking, Financial Services, or Asset Management (BFSI)· Familiarity with financial data domains, regulatory reporting, or risk systems is an advantage--- Soft Skills· Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities· Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills· Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment--- Nice to Have· Experience in data modernization or legacy BI transformation programs· Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance frameworks· Exposure to Agile delivery methodologies--- Differentiators for Ideal Candidate· Ability to bridge traditional BI (Cognos/DataStage) with modern data platforms (Databricks/Spark)· Experience in enterprise-scale data ecosystems· Strong architecture mindset with hands-on capabilitySkills: IBM InfoSphere DataStage~IBM Cognos AnalyticsExperience Required: 8-10Company Benefits & Culture
