IBM Iseries / Power Systems Engineer

New Gig Solutions is partnering with a premier Las Vegas-based enterprise organization to identify an Engineer I – IBM iSeries / Power Systems professional who wants to grow their career inside a high-availability, mission-critical environment.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

You will play a key role in maintaining and optimizing IBM iSeries / Power Systems environments, ensuring reliability, security, and performance.

Core Responsibilities:

• Administer, maintain, and support IBM iSeries / Power Systems hardware and software

• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, OS, performance, and application issues

• Manage incidents and service requests through a ticketing system

• Plan and implement system upgrades, patches (PTFs), and hardware improvements

• Monitor system performance and deliver reporting metrics

• Maintain file system shares, permissions, and security controls

• Validate and manage system backups and disaster recovery processes

• Maintain a test environment that mirrors production

• Collaborate with vendors and internal stakeholders on implementations and upgrades

• Participate in a rotating on-call schedule

This is a hands-on role where you will directly impact uptime, performance, and operational continuity.

What We’re Looking For

• 1+ year of IBM iSeries / Power Systems administration experience

• Experience with system access, security, and auditing tools such as:

  • IBM Client Access

  • Navigator

  • BRMS

  • iSecurity

  • HelpSystems

  • Related utilities

• Associate degree in MIS or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience)

• Strong troubleshooting mindset and ability to work independently

• Experience in structured, enterprise environments preferred

• IBM technical certifications (System Administration 7.1+) are a plus

You must be eligible to work in the U.S. and able to obtain required regulatory registrations.
