Dialysis Registered Nurse (RN)

Compensation: $35.00 - $42.50/hour

At Deaconess Illinois Medical Center, our Dialysis team provides life-sustaining care to patients with acute and chronic kidney disease. We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Dialysis Unit and help deliver exceptional, patient-centered care in a collaborative hospital environment.

This PRN opportunity is ideal for nurses who enjoy combining clinical expertise, critical thinking, and patient education to improve the lives of individuals requiring dialysis treatment.

What You'll Do

As a Dialysis RN, you will provide specialized nursing care to patients receiving renal replacement therapies while ensuring safe, effective treatment and exceptional patient outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assess patients before, during, and after dialysis treatments

  • Monitor vital signs, laboratory values, and patient response to therapy

  • Operate and manage dialysis equipment, including hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)

  • Administer and monitor dialysis-related medications and treatments

  • Recognize and respond appropriately to treatment complications and medical emergencies

  • Educate patients and families regarding dialysis treatments, medications, nutrition, and lifestyle management

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care

  • Follow infection prevention and safety protocols to ensure the highest standards of care

  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to support comprehensive patient care

Qualifications

Required

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing

  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or Red Cross BLS certification upon hire

Preferred

  • Minimum one year of clinical nursing experience

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented healthcare environment

  • Excellent critical thinking, organizational, and patient care skills

  • Emotional stability and adaptability in a fast-paced clinical setting
