Overview
Job Description
- Grow and manage a portfolio of individuals donors who contribute gifts under $10,000 annually;
- Collaborate with the Communications Team and Development Operations Team to execute annual giving appeals (via electronic and print strategies, such as print mailings, social media campaigns, emails, newsletters, and face-to-face pitches, etc.) with a goal of acquiring new donors and retaining existing donors;
- Collaborate with the Development Operations Team to ensure timely execution of a production schedule of direct and digital marketing activities for fundraising campaigns;
- Work with the Communications Team to write compelling content and design multimedia engagements through social media;
- Work with the Director of Major Gifts and Special Events Manager to plan new fundraising strategies and leverage existing events to increase mid-level donor engagement, including BHCHP’s Marathon Team, Annual Gala, and Emerging Leaders events;
- Identify opportunities to solicit individual donations before, during, and after events; and
- Represent BHCHP at external events in the community.
- Serve as primary point of contact for ELB leadership, working in collaboration with Development Team colleagues and Communications Manager to increase involvement, support, and stewardship of a diverse group of young professionals in the Greater Boston area;
- Set and monitor specific goals for Emerging Leaders Program including membership, engagement, and fundraising;
- Oversee BHCHP’s Boston Marathon program, including leading recruitment of runners, runner and donor engagement, and stewardship of team supporters;

- Conduct personal outreach, with an emphasis on face-to-face meetings, to all prospective, new, and existing donors to welcome and thank them for their gifts;
- Coordinate personalized outreach to lapsed donors to make the case for renewed support;
- Engage with community groups (schools, churches, and local organizations) to share BHCHP’s work and identify opportunities donations and for members to become involved; and
- Collaborate with the Director of Major Gifts to identify and cultivate mid-level donors who may be major donor prospects.
- Utilize BHCHP’s donor database platform to track all donor information in a timely way;
- Set and monitor annual performance benchmarks to increase BHCHP’s individual donor base and individual giving;
- Collaborate with the Development Operations Team to monitor the performance of individual giving strategies and appeals; and
- Leverage donor data to create targeted strategies for various constituencies.
- Bachelor's degree required
- At least 3+ years of development experience working in donor-facing positions
- Proven track record of engaging and retaining donors;
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;
- Strong oral and written communication skills with a comfort level with public speaking and presentations;
- Excellent project management skills with an emphasis on the ability to manage multiple co-occurring projects;
- Ability to handle confidential donor information with discretion, integrity and sensitivity;
- Must be proficient in Raisers Edge and able to run reports, , Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel;
- Track record of effective collaboration with peers, ability to build trust-based relationships internally and externally;
- Strong commitment to the mission of BHCHP and/or knowledge of issues relating to healthcare, poverty, and homelessness; and
- Access to a vehicle preferred.
- The compensation ranges from $60,000 and up annually and increases based on years of experience.
