Job Description
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for industrial construction projects including mechanical, piping, structural, and equipment installation scopes.
- Review bid documents, drawings, specifications, and addenda to develop comprehensive takeoffs.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and pricing using current labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor rates.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotes.
- Conduct site visits and pre-bid meetings as required.
- Collaborate with project management, engineering, and operations teams during estimating and handoff phases.
- Develop conceptual, budgetary, and hard-bid estimates.
- Analyze project risk, schedule impacts, and cost drivers.
- Maintain organized documentation of estimate assumptions and clarifications.
- Minimum 3 years of cost estimating experience in industrial construction.
- Strong understanding of industrial construction methods, sequencing, and labor productivity.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, specifications, and P&IDs.
- Experience performing detailed quantity takeoffs.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to travel approximately 25% for site visits and project support.
- Must reside in or relocate to Cincinnati, OH or Vinton, OH.
- Experience estimating projects within food processing or sanitary manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of stainless process piping, material handling systems, or mechanical equipment installation.
- Understanding of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred but not required).
- Primarily office-based with periodic field/site visits.
- Travel required for pre-bid meetings and project coordination.
- Exposure to active industrial job sites during site visits.
