Job Description

Leidos is seeking an IndustrialEngineering Intern to support operational excellence and process improvement initiatives within a high‑technology engineering and manufacturing environment. This role provides hands‑on experience applying industrial engineering principles to improve efficiency, quality, and throughput across mission‑critical production systems.

You'll work with a multidisciplinary team developing advanced maritime technologies, from prototype design to full-scale system deployment for ongoing Navy missions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations.
  • Collect and analyze production data to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and optimization opportunities.
  • Assist with capacity planning, scheduling, and resource allocation for mission‑critical projects.
  • Recommend workspace layout improvements to enhance workflow and production efficiency.
  • Collaborate with engineering, supply chain, and quality teams to implement process improvements.
  • Conduct time studies and workflow analysis to support operational optimization.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and work instructions.

Required Qualifications

  • Enrolled in an ABET‑accredited Industrial Engineering or related engineering program
  • Completion of a sophomore-level engineering curriculum
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and data interpretation skills
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing concepts and process mapping
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross‑functional teams
  • US citizenship required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Experience with process mapping, workflow analysis, or time studies
  • Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies
  • Familiarity with CAD tools or simulation software

Pay Range:

Pay Range $48,100.00 - $86,950.00
