Job Description
The Industrial Housekeeping Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and safe manufacturing environment. This position performs housekeeping activities throughout the plant, warehouse, production areas, loading docks, and exterior grounds to ensure compliance with safety, environmental, quality, and operational standards. The role plays a critical part in supporting efficient production operations and promoting a culture of workplace safety.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Maintain cleanliness of all production, warehouse, and facility areas.
· Sweep, vacuum, shovel, and remove dust, debris, spilled materials, and waste from manufacturing areas.
· Clean production equipment exteriors, conveyors, work platforms, stairways, and designated facility structures.
· Empty trash containers and waste bins and transport waste to designated collection areas.
· Segregate and dispose of waste in accordance with environmental and company policies.
· Clean break rooms, restrooms, locker rooms, and common areas as assigned.
· Assist with spill containment and cleanup following approved procedures.
· Maintain housekeeping tools and equipment in safe working condition.
· Support 5S, Lean Manufacturing, and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
· Identify and report safety hazards, equipment damage, leaks, and housekeeping concerns.
· Assist production and maintenance teams during shutdowns, preventive maintenance activities, and facility cleanup projects.
· Maintain clear aisles, emergency exits, fire extinguishers, electrical panels, and access points.
· Participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and audits.
· Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and environmental requirements.
· Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Required
· High school diploma or GED preferred.
· Ability to work in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
· Basic understanding of workplace safety practices.
· Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
· Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Preferred
· Previous housekeeping, manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial cleaning experience.
· Forklift certification or ability to become certified.
· Experience with industrial vacuums, floor scrubbers, and cleaning equipment.
· Knowledge of 5S or Lean Manufacturing principles.
