Information Technology Mainframe Operator

Global Service Resources is looking for a contractorin Los Angeles.Job Title: Information Technology Mainframe OperatorLocation: Downey, CA 90242Shift: Must be willing to accept different shifts

• Morning Shift: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM*
• Swing Shift: 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM*
• Graveyard Shift: 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM

Assignment type: Temporary (12 monthsw/ high chance of extension or hire)Pay rate: $35-$40/hourResponsibilities:

• Reports to IT Systems Operations Supervisor (IBM mainframe environment)*
• Starts/stops system tasks and monitors system consoles*
• Ensures system health and normal operations*
• Manages major subsystems (TP systems, databases, OS)*
• Performs system restart operations (shutdown/startup)*
• Coordinates with system programmers and production control

Qualifications:

• Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and communication skills*
• Experience with IBM mainframe technologies (z/OS, CICS, DB2, IMS, etc.)*
• 5+ years mainframe operator experience*
  • 2+ years on IBM p-Series/z-Series platforms* *
  • 1+ year in system monitoring/automation (e.g., ITM)*
• Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field (or equivalent)

Preferred Skills:

• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills*
• Good customer service and attention to detail*
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook*
• 2+ years with Windows/Linux servers & z/OS*
• Experience maintaining logs/tickets in tracking systems*
• Strong English communication skills
