JOB DETAILS:

LOCATION: Pacific Cancer Care - 15400 National Ave., Suite 201, Los Gatos 95032

SCHEDULE: FT Position | Monday-Friday | 8 or 10-Hour Shifts

SALARY RANGE: $65.00-$91.00/hour, commensurate with experience

OPPORTUNITY OVERVIEW:

Pacific Cancer Care (PCC) is seeking a compassionate, highly skilled, and detail‑oriented Infusion RN to join our new Los Gatos Medical Oncology clinic. As a core member of our interdisciplinary oncology team, the Infusion RN will play a critical role in delivering safe, evidence‑based chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and supportive treatments in a patient‑centered environment. This position is ideal for an oncology‑focused RN who excels in clinical assessment, infusion therapy, symptom management, and therapeutic communication. The Infusion RN will partner closely with physicians, APPs, and fellow nurses to support patients and families through complex treatment decisions, active cancer therapy, and the broader continuum of care.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Clinical Assessment & Direct Patient Care

  • Perform comprehensive assessments to determine treatment readiness, including symptom evaluation and toxicity monitoring.
  • Identify, manage, and escalate treatment‑related side effects using supportive care interventions and evidence‑based protocols.
  • Recognize and respond to oncologic emergencies promptly and appropriately.
  • Deliver holistic, culturally sensitive care that addresses physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual needs.

Infusion Therapy & Technical Skills

  • Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and biotherapy in accordance with PCC, ONS, OSHA, and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Perform peripheral IV insertion and manage or troubleshoot central venous access devices, including ports, PICCs, and CVCs.
  • Review and interpret laboratory values and other clinical data necessary for safe medication administration.
  • Follow strict hazardous drug handling procedures and use appropriate PPE at all times.
  • Manage patients receiving treatment for both solid tumors and hematologic conditions.

Patient & Caregiver Education

  • Provide clear, compassionate education on treatment plans, side effects, symptom management, and expectations of care.
  • Use therapeutic communication techniques during sensitive or challenging conversations.
  • Connect patients and families with relevant support resources, including genetic counseling, clinical trials, survivorship programs, palliative care, and community services.

Care Coordination & Advocacy

  • Advocate for patients and serve as a liaison between patients, physicians, and interdisciplinary care team members.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and collaborate to ensure safe, continuous, coordinated care.
  • Delegate tasks appropriately based on scope of practice and patient needs.

Documentation, Compliance & Safety

  • Document assessments, interventions, education, and treatment outcomes accurately and in a timely manner in the EMR.
  • Maintain compliance with all PCC policies, HIPAA standards, OSHA regulations, and ONS guidelines.
  • Contribute to a clean, safe, organized clinical environment that reflects PCC's commitment to high‑quality, compassionate care.

Workflow, Professional Practice & Development

  • Prioritize and manage workflow to support efficient and effective patient care.
  • Demonstrate strong critical thinking, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Participate in PCC staff meetings, RN meetings, and required trainings.
  • Identify personal learning needs and engage in ongoing professional development.

Fiscal & Operational Awareness

  • Understand basic billing processes, treatment authorizations, and the importance of accurate documentation.
  • Recognize the financial impact of cancer treatments and guide patients toward assistance programs when appropriate.
  • Practice responsible resource utilization in daily oncology nursing operations.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support patient care and clinic operations.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program required.
  • Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
  • Current BLS certification required; ALS preferred.
  • ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Card preferred (required within 1 year of employment).
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

DESIRABLE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous oncology nursing experience preferred
  • Strong assessment, IV insertion, and central line management skills
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and critical thinking skills
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records
