Position Highlights

Nebraska Medicine is seeking a talented and motivated individual to join us as an Innovative Physicist- Proton. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for radiation oncology and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care. The position is based at the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center- Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE.

We are particularly interested in candidates with proton therapy experience, strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, and excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Shift Details:

  • Exempt, salaried position with Flex-Time scheduling

  • Full-time / 40 hours

Innovative Physicist- Proton Description:

The Innovative Physicist will play a pivotal role in supporting the development and clinical integration of cutting-edge proton therapy solutions at the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center, University of Nebraska Medical Center. This position focuses on advancing efficiency and innovation within our upright proton therapy program under the direction of the Proton Medical Physicist and Medical Physics leadership, with emphasis on:

  • Automation of proton treatment planning and quality assurance.

  • Development of highly efficient online-adaptive solutions.

  • Implementation of simulation-free proton therapy workflows based on upright MRI.

Required Qualifications:

  • M.S.. in Physics, or closely related field required.

  • At least two years of experience in radiotherapy, medical physics, or related medical engineering field required.

  • Strong programming skills in Python & Matlab required.

  • Experience in RayStation software scripting and treatment planning required.

  • Ability to work independently & collaboratively in a team required.

  • Experience in imaging (e.g., MRI) and/or experimental measurements in proton therapy required.

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills required.

  • Interest in translational research and clinical innovation required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D in physics or related field preferred.
