Job Summary: Reporting to the Principal or administrative designee, the Instructional Aide- Physical Education supports the delivery of a comprehensive, standards-aligned physical education program by assisting with instruction, ensuring student safety, promoting positive behavior, and fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
What You Will Do
Instructional Support
- Assists P.E. teacher with rigorous, engaging instruction aligned to the school's instructional model and physical education standards
- Supports active participation and engagement for all students, including those reluctant or needing additional encouragement
- Assists with small group or individualized support during activities
- Assists with incorporating a variety of strategies and resources to meet diverse student needs and interests (including educational software and curriculum)
- Assists in facilitating learning experiences that promote autonomy, interaction, and student choice
Student Behavior & School Culture
- Implements Positive Behavior Support strategies and Restorative Practices to build a safe, nurturing environment
- Reinforces school-wide rules, policies, and expectations in and outside of the classroom
Student Safety & Well-Being
- Ensures students' rights are protected through respectful communication
- Uses appropriate de-escalation techniques and nonviolent crisis intervention strategies when needed
- Supervises students during P.E. activities, transitions, locker rooms (if applicable), and outdoor spaces
Collaboration & Professional Responsibilities
- Collaborates with teachers, administrators, and instructional coaches
- Engages in ongoing professional development and team collaboration
- Assists the teacher with tracking student participation, effort, and skill development
- Helps prepare instructional materials, visuals, or activity stations
