Job Description

The Instructional Designer is responsible for designing and developing learning solutions that support employee performance, growth and organizational effectiveness. This role partners with business stakeholders and subject matter experts to translate defined learning and performance needs into effective, engaging instructional experiences aligned with adult learning principles and established design standards.

The Instructional Designer partners with Department Leadership, HR, and cross-functional stakeholders to design and develop effective, engaging learning solutions that support defined business and performance needs. This role is responsible for executing instructional design work within established standards and processes, while continuously building capability and design craft.

Key responsibilities include:

Curriculum Design:

  • Design and develop learning solutions across modalities (e-learning, instructor-led, virtual, job aids, and blended programs) using established instructional design standards and templates.
  • Create instructional materials including learner guides, facilitator guides, assessments, and supporting assets.

Needs Assessment:

  • Collaborate with SMEs and stakeholders to understand learning objectives, audience needs, and performance gaps.
  • Translate scoped requirements into clear learning objectives, content flow, and assessments aligned to adult learning principles.

Learning Technologies:

  • Utilize learning technologies and authoring tools (LMS, authoring software, multimedia tools) to build and maintain learning content.
  • Apply best practices for accessibility, usability, and learner experience.

Evaluation and Assessment:

  • Support the development of assessments and evaluation tools to measure learner comprehension and engagement.
  • Incorporate feedback from pilots, QA reviews, and stakeholders to improve learning effectiveness.

Project Management:

  • Manage assigned design tasks and deliverables within defined timelines.
  • Communicate progress, risks, and dependencies to project leads or senior designers.

The role requires a blend of instructional design expertise, knowledge of adult learning theories, and familiarity with technology-driven learning tools to create impactful talent and learning solutions for the organization.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

This position operates in a professional office environment. The role routinely requires prolonged periods of sitting while working at a computer and using standard office equipment such as a keyboard, mouse, and telephone. The employee must be able to communicate effectively and may occasionally need to move about the office to access materials or attend meetings.

Experience and Education

Required:

  • 1-3+ years of instructional design and/or talent design experience.
  • Critical thinker with a focus on learner engagement and educational effectiveness.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Adept at managing change and comfortable handling pivots and shifts in priorities given the needs of the business.
  • Passion for education, learning, and continuous improvement in training methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability to apply instructional design principles with guidance and feedback.
  • H.S. Diploma
  • Articulate Storyline, Canva, Microsoft Suite (PPT, Excel, Project, Outlook, Teams, etc)

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent 3+ years' work experience
  • Prior experience in instructional design or curriculum development,
  • Experience with Learning Management System functionality/features
  • Experience with the following software or equivalent:
  • Articulate, Adobe Creative Suite, Vyond, Canva
