Job Summary
William Paterson University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track, 10-month position of Instructor in the College of Education, Department of Educational Leadership and Professional Studies. Position starts August 17, 2026.
The Department of Educational Leadership and Professional Studies offers graduate study for professionals who wish to enhance their careers with advanced degrees, certifications, and endorsements. Reporting to the chair of the department, this instructor will teach master's level courses in School Library Media (PreK-12) and Educational Technology programs.
The primary responsibilities of this role will be to serve as the School Library Media Program Director and teach 30 credits annually. There may also be an opportunity to teach courses in the summer.
The initial appointment is for a series of one-year contracts over a five (5) year period, with annual renewal based on satisfactory evaluations of qualifications, teaching excellence, effective support of students, and collegiality. Subsequent longer-term contracts may be available based on satisfactory performance and departmental needs.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Teach 30 credits annually, predominantly 7-week, online asynchronous graduate courses.
- Serve as the Director of the School Library Media program which includes but is not limited to advising students, scheduling courses, managing state licensure and accreditation processes.
- Attend in-person department and college meetings and participate in activities and events of the department, college, and university designed for student recruitment, retention and graduation.
- Participate in and contribute to assurance of learning assessment and accreditation as well as curriculum and program development.
- Serve on department, College of Education, and University committees and councils.
Qualifications:
Required qualifications:
- An earned doctorate in library science or related field from an accredited institution.
- Experience teaching in higher education (undergraduate and/or graduate level).
- Experience with online instruction.
- Experience as a (PreK-12) school librarian.
- Ability and willingness to learn and use instructional technologies and digital management platforms.
- Experience in educational technology.
- Ability and willingness to learn accreditation and state licensure requirements.
Preferred qualifications:
- Ability and willingness to work with doctoral students as a dissertation committee member.

Salary - AFT Range 22
