Job DetailsAbout the RoleThis position oversees medical accounts receivable collections for a multi-site physician group. Responsibilities include following up on claim denials across all assigned payers, resolving billing issues, and handling inquiries from patients and clinic staff. The specialist uses effective collection techniques to keep AR current, monitoring for delinquent payments and taking action to resolve them.Key ResponsibilitiesFollow up on insurance billing to ensure prompt payment receiptInteract professionally with patients and insurance companies on sensitive financial matters, working to recapture unpaid balancesReceive and resolve patient billing inquiries, initiating adjustment requests to address discrepanciesFollow up on all zero-payment EOBs, exploring all options to obtain claim paymentsConduct monthly reviews of assigned accounts, identifying and correcting errorsProvide support for account-related inquiries across internal stakeholdersResearch billing issues and follow up with relevant parties to reach resolutionInitiate payer and/or patient refund requests for validated overpaymentsInitiate debt write-off requests per established policies and regulatory guidelinesRequirements2+ years medical billing and/or collections experience in a physician or medical facility settingHigh school diploma or GED (billing/coding coursework preferred)Knowledge of government insurance plans (Medicare Part B/C, Medicaid, advantage plans, Tricare, etc.) and commercial plans (PPO, HMO, EPO, HRA, etc.)Working knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10Understanding of HIPAA guidelinesProficiency in Word, Excel, and OutlookEMR software experience preferredSchedule & OtherMonday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PMOccasional travel to medical offices may be requiredInterested in hearing more?
