Temp-to-hire Insurance Defense Legal Secretary HoustonA complex litigation law firm located in the Galleria area of Houston is seeking a temp-to-hire insurance defense Legal Secretary to join their team. Candidates must have 4+ years of litigation experience and be well-versed in filing in state (Texas) and federal courts. Duties include:
- Provide comprehensive administrative assistance to attorneys in defense practice
- Prepare materials for hearings, trials, mediations, arbitrations, depositions, and meetings
- Maintain and manage client files with accuracy and confidentiality
- Track and calendar state and federal litigation deadlines
- Handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity
- Utilize document management systems, preferably iManage
- E-file documents in both state and federal courts
- Coordinate travel arrangements and process expense reimbursements
- Maintain attorney calendars and schedule appointments
- Open new client/matter files and initiate conflict checks
- Process check requests and maintain tracking systems
- Assist attorneys with timekeeping and billing entries
- Draft and proofread correspondence and legal documents with a high level of accuracy
- Prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Work overtime as needed
- Adhere to all firm policies and procedures
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned
