Insurance Verification Specialist

Insurance Verification SpecialistWe are currently looking for experienced Insurance Verification Specialists in Akron, Ohio. If you have a background in insurance verification, eligibility review, and patient financial intake, we'd love to hear from you. This role involves verifying insurance coverage, updating client records, conducting financial interviews, and serving as a key liaison between finance, medical staff, and laboratory teams. • 8:00am – 4:30pm, Monday – Friday

Pay

• $20.00 – $21.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities

• Verify insurance eligibility via payer portals and update client info in internal systems
• Conduct annual financial interviews and collect necessary documents
• Register new clients, ensuring all forms and releases are completed accurately
• Collaborate with Case Workers and Reception to update client info
• Alert internal eligibility staff of insurance or residency changes
• Act as a liaison regarding insurance questions and documentation needs
• Collect co-pays, deductibles, and other payments as needed
• Maintain confidentiality per HIPAA standards
• Attend training on payers and eligibility processes
• Perform additional administrative duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance processes
• Portal verification experience with Medicaid and Medicare
• Two years of insurance verification experience strongly preferred
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• High attention to detail and accurate documentation skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
• Proficiency with payer portals and electronic systems

Nice to Have Skills

• Experience with healthcare billing systems
• Familiarity with healthcare regulations and standards

Preferred Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or higher
• 2+ years of insurance verification experience in healthcare setting

Other Requirements

• Must have portal verification experience with Medicaid and Medicare
