Intern - Supply Chain & Purchasing Analytics

Position Overview

The Supply Chain & Purchasing Analytics Intern will support the Purchasing team by developing dashboards, reporting tools, and management summaries that provide visibility into procurement performance, supplier health, and purchasing trends. This role focuses on transforming purchase order and supplier data into actionable insights that enable cost control, process efficiency, and improved supplier performance.

The intern will analyze purchasing activity, build structured reporting, and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) to help standardize and scale procurement operations. Projects may include spend analysis, supplier scorecards, PO lifecycle tracking, and data cleanup initiatives. This position offers hands-on experience working cross-functionally with planning, operations, and finance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Interns may be assigned to one of three focus areas: flight hardware procurement, non-flight/CAPEX procurement, or materials planning.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain purchasing dashboards and recurring management reports
• Track and analyze purchase order activity including volume, types, changes, and lifecycle metrics
• Support spend analysis, pricing trends, lead time analysis, and minimum order quantity optimization
• Assist with supplier data cleanup and supplier master data maintenance
• Build supplier performance scorecards (on-time delivery, quality, responsiveness, and cost)
• Identify cost-saving, consolidation, and process improvement opportunities
• Prepare summaries and presentations for buyers and leadership reviews
• Document procurement processes by shadowing buyers and creating SOPs and playbooks
• Participate in cross-functional meetings with planning, operations, engineering, and finance teams

Qualifications

Education

• Enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Supply Chain Management, Business, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field
• Junior year standing preferred

Experience

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, basic analytics)
• Experience working with structured data and reporting
• Interest in procurement, supply chain, or operations analytics

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with dashboards or visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar)
• Exposure to ERP or procurement systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar)
• Coursework in supply chain, operations, or data analytics
• Familiarity with basic financial or cost analysis
• Experience working with large datasets

Physical Requirements

• Primarily desk-based work with extended computer use
• Occasional attendance in meetings or on-site operational walkthroughs
