Job Description

Assist with manufacturing facility Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) program by shadowing EHS staff during meetings, toolbox talks and other training opportunities, and new hire orientations. Helps to ensure government and company compliance and assist with opportunities for improvement.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Learn the life in a day of an EHS professional by attending department topic meetings, toolbox talks and new hire orientations.
  • Review OSHA required programs, hazardous communication guidelines and lock out tag out requirements and ensure compliance.
  • Review and update all safety data sheets and spot-checking secondary labels.
  • Drive safety culture on production floor by introducing topics to workers.
  • Complete inspections – slings, eye wash stations, safety binders, AED, forklift pre-use checklists, fire extinguishers, machine guarding.
  • Update Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's).
  • Review and update Job Risk Assessments.
  • Create presentations on safety topics.
  • Assist with injury reporting and investigations.
  • Complete a Scope 3 Emissions report for facility.
  • Identify a replacement for a single use item.

EDUCATION & SKILLS REQUIRED

  • A student actively seeking a post-secondary degree in Safety.
  • Ability to commute to our Monongahela, PA – this is a fully onsite role.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint preferred.
  • Strong candidates will be detail oriented with deep observation skills.
  • A willingness to champion safety topics to audiences of all kinds is a must.
  • OSHA 30 Hour Card a plus.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, kneel, bend and navigate in tight spaces. Will need to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion.
