Internships have a lasting impact on our team at New York Air Brake! The co-op program for students in their junior or senior year of study provides the opportunity to make big contributions that will help us deliver advanced freight rail braking solutions now and in the future. This is your opportunity to make a big impact on improving the quality of how the latest generation of locomotive and freight car braking systems are manufactured. Co-op opportunity for Electrical, Electrical Engineering Technology, or technical majors with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. You can expect challenging work and an insider's view into your future profession. You will work individually and as part of a project team while receiving regular feedback in preparation for a final presentation to company leaders.

The responsibilities of the position will be focused on one or more of the following areas:

  • Assist engineers with appropriate design details

  • Design Analysis

  • Calculations

  • Simulations

  • Further research and development of existing products and technologies

  • Support product development

  • Construction of Engineering Prototypes

  • Engineering Development Testing

  • Developing test infrastructure

  • Performing tests

  • Analyzing Data

  • Documenting results

  • Collaborate with production teams to reduce cost and improve product quality.

Required Skills

  • Understands basic instrumentation, including Data Acquisition.
  • Understands basic electrical engineering skills, use of tools, etc.
  • Flexibility to work across multiple disciplines
  • Strong communication, and teamwork,
  • Capable of technical writing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Power Point.

Note: The anticipated wage scale for candidates who will work in Watertown, New York or remote is $16.00 to $25.00/per hour. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will depend on their class year/status.
