About the Role

The Translational Science Intern will support the development of novel drug candidates addressing unmet needs in eye care. Under the guidance of the Translational Science team, the intern will gain hands-on experience investigating mechanisms of action, disease models, and strategies for delivering drugs to the clinic. The intern will collaborate with cross-functional teams within Tarsus to contribute to the translation of new drugs to the clinic. This is an opportunity to build practical skills, make a tangible impact on development of new drugs, and prepare for a successful career as a Translational Scientist.

Let’s talk about some of the key responsibilities of the role:

  • Conduct deep scientific research to become knowledgeable in key ocular indication(s), identify and assess validity of in silico, in vitro, and in vivo disease models
  • Work closely with the Translational Science team to generate literature based scientific evidence supporting lead evaluations in in vitro, and in vivo disease models
  • Apply computational approaches such as predictive toxicology and data-driven analyses to advance understanding of the safety profile for new drug candidates
  • Assist the Translational Science team in the execution of experiments to profile mechanism of action for early development projects
  • Assist with data review, perform data analysis, and prepare summaries and visualizations of findings
  • Actively participate in team review and discussions of data, study design, and development strategy  

Factors for Success

  • Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in pharmacology, toxicology, bioengineering or a related field
  • Experience with computational approaches to safety and pharmacodynamics, quantitative systems pharmacology, or mechanistic models is a plus
  • Prior research experience is a plus
  • Ability and experience in critically evaluating scientific literature
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Highly motivated and quickly adapts in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

The expected hourly pay for this position is $26/hour for an undergraduate student and $45/hr for a graduate student.
