Job Summary

The International Area Representative is responsible for recruiting host families, guiding them through the application and orientation process, and providing ongoing support throughout the student's stay. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, community engagement, and a genuine interest in international education and cultural exchange programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and recruit prospective host families within the assigned area to support international student exchange programs
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local schools to raise awareness of student exchange opportunities
  • Promote public awareness of exchange programs through community outreach and engagement activities
  • Guide prospective host families through the online application process on the organization's website
  • Conduct in-home interviews with potential host families and verify references to ensure suitability
  • Facilitate host family orientations prior to student arrival to set expectations and provide program guidance
  • Perform monthly check-ins with host families and students via phone calls or in-person visits
  • Document all interactions, check-ins, and progress reports accurately in the online system

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to build trust and rapport with families, schools, and students from diverse backgrounds
  • Comfortable conducting in-home visits and interviews
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Reliable transportation for local travel to schools and host family homes
  • Basic computer literacy for completing online documentation and applications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in sales, community outreach, or customer service
  • Familiarity with international education or cultural exchange programs
  • Experience working with schools or educational institutions
  • Bilingual or multilingual abilities

Technical Skills

Compensation

This position offers performance-based compensation of $1,000 per successful placement for an academic year student and $800 per successful placement for a one-semester student. Total annual earnings will vary based on the number of placements achieved, with potential compensation ranging from $1,000 to $20,000 per year depending on performance and area growth opportunities.
