Job Description
MDT Internship Program provides an opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of problem solving, innovation and teamwork. Interns engage in Montana's transportation projects that have a direct impact on Montana's traveling public! Interns will collaborate with area experts and gain invaluable hands-on experience. Our internships focus on training and integrating the interns into our current workforce of over 2,000 people across Montana who are all providing a vital role to ensure everyone arrives at their destination safely.
Recruiting for two Survey Interns that will work full time hours for the summer of 2027 as a MDT Intern!
Interns will be exposed to all aspects of land surveying and will be supporting our full-time survey staff with: control, engineering (topographic), cadastral, hydraulics, bathymetric surveys and photogrammetry. This position will spend a large portion of their time in the field traveling to various project locations around the state to collect valuable survey data which our design teams will use for roadway and bridge designs. The Interns will get a variety of experience using a total station, robotic survey, level loops, control, GPS survey, point and line coding to collect data, and post processing of the data in the office in CAD (AutoCAD and Trimble Business Center). This is a position where the intern will get hands on survey experience working with experienced MDT survey staff.
Required Education and Experience:
- Student must be currently enrolled or attending College, University. Student required to have a minimum of 60 credit hours by the end of spring semester 2027. Desired majors are within Civil Engineering, Land Surveying, GIS, Geospatial, and Photogrammetry.
