Job Description

Friendly Chevrolet is seeking a driven Inventory Acquisition Specialist to help grow our pre-owned inventory by purchasing vehicles directly from the public.

This role focuses on proactive vehicle acquisition, primarily through our service drive, online marketplaces and digital acquisition channels, customer referrals, and digital purchase leads such as KBB Instant Cash Offer. While trades and local auctions may supplement inventory, our strategy centers on buying vehicles directly from customers whenever possible.

Top performers in this role consistently acquire 25–45 vehicles per month by actively identifying opportunities, building relationships with customers, and sourcing vehicles through both in-person and digital channels.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys building relationships, evaluating vehicles, and creating win-win opportunities for customers who want to sell their vehicle.

As a key member of our used vehicle strategy, the Inventory Acquisition Specialist will work closely with our Used Car Manager, Sales Team, and Service Department to keep our inventory fresh and competitive.

A Day in the Life

A successful Inventory Acquisition Specialist spends the day actively identifying opportunities to purchase vehicles from customers.

Typical daily activities include:

    • Performing vehicle appraisals using market data and dealership valuation tools

    • Managing and contacting KBB Instant Cash Offer leads and other digital acquisition opportunities

    • Identifying vehicles listed on online marketplaces and digital acquisition channels and reaching out to potential sellers

    • Following up with previous customers who may want to sell their vehicle

    • Presenting competitive purchase offers and guiding customers through the selling process

    • Completing acquisition paperwork and entering deals into dealership systems

    • Coordinating with the Used Car Manager to align acquisitions with current inventory needs

This role combines customer interaction, vehicle evaluation, digital lead management, and administrative accuracy to ensure vehicles move smoothly into inventory.

Key Responsibilities

    • Proactively acquire vehicles from service drive customers by identifying purchase opportunities during service visits

    • Generate inventory through online marketplaces and digital acquisition channels such as Facebook Marketplace and other consumer vehicle listing platforms

    • Manage and convert digital acquisition leads including KBB Instant Cash Offer

    • Build relationships that generate customer referrals and repeat sellers

Vehicle Appraisal & Offers

    • Perform accurate vehicle appraisals using market data, condition reports, and dealership tools

    • Present competitive purchase offers and guide customers through the selling process

    • Work closely with the Used Car Manager and appraisal team to finalize valuations

Acquisition Documentation & Process

    • Complete and submit all acquisition paperwork and documentation, including purchase agreements, titles, and internal deal jackets

    • Enter acquisitions into dealership systems to maintain accurate inventory records

    • Coordinate with the title office, accounting department, and used car manager to ensure smooth processing

Additional Inventory Support

    • Identify and assist with trade acquisition opportunities when appropriate

    • Source vehicles selectively through local auctions when inventory needs require it

What We're Looking For

    • Automotive sales, appraisal, or buying experience preferred (not required for the right candidate)

    • Strong ability to engage customers and build quick rapport

    • Confidence evaluating vehicles and recognizing market value

    • Strong computer skills and attention to detail to manage acquisition documentation and digital tools

    • Familiarity with tools such as vAuto, KBB Instant Cash Offer, auction data, or marketplace platforms is a plus

    • Self-motivated with strong follow-up and organizational skills

    • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
