Job Description

Bond Vet is on a mission to strengthen the human-animal bond through better pet care. We offer primary and urgent care, so we're there for pets when they need us most. Our clinics are designed with pets and people in mind: warm, friendly, and highly sniffable. We balance this design with a strong focus on technology, all built in-house, which means we can easily innovate our systems to improve the veterinary team, pet, and client experience.

Role Summary

The Inventory & Procurement Manager will play a critical role in driving inventory excellence across Bond Vet clinics, with a primary focus on improving Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) through a combination of data-driven strategy and hands-on field execution.

This role blends analytical insight with hands-on field partnership, translating clinic-level inventory performance into actionable workflows, training, and sustainable operational improvements.

The Inventory Manager will partner closely with Clinic Managers and field teams to diagnose inventory inefficiencies, implement best practices, and elevate operational performance on the ground. This includes traveling to clinics, auditing inventory processes, coaching teams, and ensuring sustainable adoption of standardized practices.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Inventory & Procurement, this individual will also collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Finance, and Medical teams to shape inventory strategy, optimize procurement processes, and build scalable training programs.

The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of veterinary products and clinic workflows, paired with strong analytical capabilities and a passion for improving how clinics operate day-to-day.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Strategy & COGS Optimization

  • Analyze clinic-level COGS performance, purchasing trends, and product utilization to identify specific, actionable opportunities for improvement
  • Develop targeted strategies to optimize inventory spend, reduce waste, and improve margin - tailored to individual clinic performance
  • Partner with Finance to understand drivers of clinic P&L and translate insights into operational action plans
  • Evaluate formulary adherence and recommend standardization opportunities grounded in real clinic workflows

Field Excellence & In-Clinic Execution

  • Travel to clinics to conduct on-site inventory assessments, audits, and workflow observations
  • Partner directly with Clinic Managers and field teams to:
  • Diagnose root causes of inventory inefficiencies
  • Train teams on best practices (ordering, usage, storage, controls)
  • Reinforce cost-conscious decision-making behaviors
  • Ensure strategies are not just defined, but fully implemented and sustained at the clinic level
  • Act as a bridge between central strategy and clinic execution, ensuring alignment and adoption

Training, Enablement & Best Practice Development

  • Build and continuously refine inventory management playbooks, SOPs, and training materials
  • Support broader Clinic Manager training and onboarding related to inventory, procurement, and operational excellence
  • Lead or support rollout of new inventory-related initiatives, tools, or process changes
  • Identify gaps in knowledge or execution and proactively develop training solutions

Compliance & Operational Support

  • Ensure adherence to inventory controls, including controlled substance (DEA) compliance and documentation, including new registrants and transfers
  • Support broader central operations initiatives as needed (e.g., compliance workflows, audits, process rollouts, business and other licenses)
  • Identify and implement improvements to inventory-related processes across the organization

Procurement & Systems Oversight

  • Support procurement workflows within Coupa, ensuring adherence to purchasing guidelines and operational consistency
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for inventory systems (Coupa, Cubex, Vetcove), supporting both troubleshooting and optimization
  • Partner on product catalog management, formulary updates, and vendor-related initiatives

Qualifications

Required

  • 3-5+ years of experience in inventory management, procurement, operations, or a related field
  • Strong analytical skillset with the ability to interpret data and translate it into operational strategy
  • Experience working in field-facing roles or environments requiring hands-on operational support
  • Ability to influence and coach frontline teams and drive behavior change
  • Comfortable working across both data analysis and in-person execution
  • Willingness to travel regularly to clinics

Preferred

  • Experience in veterinary or clinical operations environments (strongly preferred)
  • Familiarity with veterinary products, workflows, and inventory use in a clinical setting
  • Experience with procurement and inventory systems (e.g., Coupa, Cubex, Vetcove)
  • Experience supporting COGS management and clinic-level P&L improvement
  • Experience building training materials, SOPs, or operational playbooks
  • Experience with BI tools (Domo, Tableau, etc.)

Pay Range: $100,000-$120,000 annually, pay based on experience
