Job Description

The Inventory Manager is responsible for overall inventory and compliance within the manufacturing and warehouse operations.  This includes analysis, reporting, along with recommending, developing, and implementing processes and procedures related to inventory with the goal of continuous improvement.  Responsibilities include inventory accuracy, cycle counting programs, physical inventory, excess inventory, and inventory records. This role leads the Inventory Control team and works functionally across the organization to both drive inventory accuracy and improve inventory utilization. MEASURES OF SUCCESS:
  • Lead the Inventory Control team, including hiring, training, and developing employees. Provide the leadership to the organization and work cross functionally to drive inventory accuracy.   
  • Perform, review and reconcile inventory counts.  Implement and administer a cycle count program that meets the needs of the business and conforms to audit standards. Oversee annual physical inventories.
  • Review and reconcile all inventory discrepancies, both in manufacturing and warehouse operations. This review includes verification of all adjustments prior to posting. This includes reviewing prior transactions, accuracy, root cause, and compliance. Create, analyze, and present periodic reports on inventory accuracy to management.
  • Develop processes and procedures to improve inventory flow/movement and accuracy from receipt through manufacturing to shipment.  Work cross functionally to identify root causes of inventory differences and implement process improvements in conjunction with warehouse, finance, and operations management.
  • Review overall inventory for opportunities, including improving turns, utilization and disposition of excess inventory, and SKU management.  In conjunction with Master Data and other departments, assure that inventory records in the ERP system are accurate and up to date.  Develop inventory forecast and work across the organization to execute these plans. 
  • Review compliance with Inventory Policies and Procedures, including FIFO, lot control, and disposals.  Work with quality control to segregate inventory that does not standards.
  • Responsible for month end reconciliation and analysis of inventory, including all outside locations.
  • Train operations and warehouse personnel on inventory related procedures.
  • Work on special projects and other tasks assigned by management. 
IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES:
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in Inventory Management.  This needs to include experience in cycle counting and manufacturing operations. This position is responsible for multiple warehouse, over $125 MM of Inventory, and 6,000 plus SKU’s. 
  • A degree in Supply Chain, Business, or Finance, or equivalent experience. 
  • Understanding of ERP and WMS systems, including use of scanners.
  • Ability to understand and analyze inventory transactions.
  • Must have strong leadership, motivational and training skills with a minimum of two years of managing direct reports.
  • Excellent Excel skills.
