Inventory Control Specialist Position Overview

PlanITROI is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Inventory Control Specialist to support the accuracy and integrity of inventory across our operations. This role plays a critical part in maintaining accurate inventory records through cycle counting, location audits, and inventory reconciliation.

The Inventory Control Specialist will work closely with warehouse, production, and finance teams to ensure inventory movements are properly recorded and that discrepancies are quickly identified and resolved. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a commitment to operational accuracy in a fast-paced production environment.

This is a full-time, on-site role in Youngsville, NC 

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cycle-counts to maintain inventory accuracy across all inventory locations
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies between physical counts and system records 
  • Maintain accurate location control within the warehouse or production areas 
  • Ensure proper inventory labeling, storage, and organization to support efficient warehouse operations
  • Monitor and verify inventory transfers, adjustments, and movements in the inventory management system 
  • Support quarterly and annual physical inventory counts and audit activities
  • Conduct routine location audits to ensure inventory is stored and labeled correctly 
  • Partner with warehouse, receiving, and production teams to resolve inventory variance issues 
  • Document and escalate the root cause of recurring discrepancies 
  • Assist with inventory reporting and reconciliation activities for operations and finance teams 
  • Maintain organized records and documentation related to inventory counts and adjustments 
  • Support process improvement initiatives to strengthen inventory accuracy and operational efficiency
  • Assist with special inventory projects or operational initiatives as assigned 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field preferred. 
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered. 
  • 3+ years of inventory control, warehouse inventory management, or supply chain experience. 
  • Experience performing cycle counts and physical inventory audits in a warehouse or production environment. 
  • Experience working with inventory management systems, ERP systems, or warehouse management systems (WMS).
  • Experience supporting inventory reconciliation with finance or accounting teams preferred. 
  • Comfortable working in a warehouse and office environment, supporting production and logistics operations 
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy 
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills 
  • Ability to investigate discrepancies and determine root causes 
  • Proficiency with Excel and inventory reporting tools 
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills 
  • Ability to work independently while supporting cross-functional teams 
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout warehouse and production areas 
  • Ability to occasionally lift to 50 pounds
