INVENTORY / PARTS SPECIALIST
Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) | Los Angeles, CA
Pay Rate: $32.65/hourLong-Term Contract | Potential Contract-to-Hire
KEEP AIRPORT OPERATIONS MOVING
We are seeking an experienced Inventory / Parts Specialist to support maintenance and repair operations at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
This is a hands-on role combining inventory control, purchasing, parts coordination, vendor communication, CMMS data entry, receiving, and material handling. The ideal candidate has at least two years of experience working with parts, materials, purchasing, warehouse operations, or inventory control and is comfortable working in a fast-paced operational environment.
This is a long-term opportunity with the potential to convert to a permanent position based on business needs and individual performance.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Manage inventory and parts needed to support repairs and preventive maintenance operations.
- Purchase and order materials, equipment, parts, and supplies from vendors.
- Review vendor quotes and help identify suppliers based on pricing, service, quality, and availability.
- Communicate with vendors regarding orders, deliveries, discrepancies, and material requirements.
- Monitor vendor and contract performance to support compliance with established requirements.
- Receive and inspect incoming materials, verify part numbers, and identify damaged, incorrect, or unmarked items.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and enter parts and work-related information into a CMMS system.
- Coordinate materials and parts to help prevent maintenance delays and equipment downtime.
- Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment as required.
- Drive company vehicles and golf carts throughout airport property, including operational areas and the tarmac.
- Make occasional parts deliveries outside the airport when needed.
- Follow airport security requirements, company safety procedures, and required training protocols.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Required:
- At least 2 years of experience in inventory control, materials management, parts coordination, or purchasing
- At least 2 years of experience with data entry, work orders, scheduling, or workload coordination
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to obtain and maintain required airport security badging
- Ability to work weekends and holidays as scheduled
- Willingness to work in a 24/7 airport operating environment
- Ability to safely lift and move materials weighing up to 20 pounds
- Comfortable driving company vehicles and working around moving equipment and aircraft operations
Preferred:
- High school diploma or GED
- Previous airport, aviation, maintenance, warehouse, or industrial operations experience
- Forklift experience
- Experience using a CMMS or computerized maintenance tracking system
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Purchasing, vendor management, or procurement experience
SCHEDULE
Candidates must be available to work Saturdays and Sundays and will receive two consecutive days off during the week.
A day shift is currently the most likely schedule, but flexibility to work other shifts is strongly preferred. LAX operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, so schedules may include weekends and holidays.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position works within an active airport environment and may involve exposure to vehicle traffic, moving mechanical equipment, outdoor weather, fumes, airborne particles, vibration, and elevated noise levels.
The role requires regular standing and walking and may involve reaching, bending, climbing, kneeling, crouching, and handling parts, tools, and equipment.
