Job Description
Summary
The Inventory Planner plays a key role in supporting the Inventory Manager in overseeing daily inventory operations and ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of all material movements. This position is responsible for handling exceptions, troubleshooting transactional issues, maintaining orderly inventory areas, and safeguarding custody of all inventory assets. The Inventory Planner ensures smooth SAP and MES/WMES operations, supports physical inventory activities, facilitates training, and maintains effective communication across departments. This role also contributes directly to the company’s continuous growth and expansion goals.
Job Duties
Support the Inventory Manager in overseeing day-to-day inventory operations and resolving issues.
Ensure accurate issue and receipt of all types of materials through SAP and MES/WMES systems.
Perform physical inventory activities including cycle counts, monthly counts, and annual audits.
Safeguard custody of all inventory assets, ensuring material integrity and preventing loss/damage.
Troubleshoot exceptions in material movement and transactional discrepancies in SAP/MES/WMES.
Maintain organized and compliant inventory storage areas, shelves, and floor space.
Pick, issue, receive, and process work orders per BOM requirements through SAP/MES/WMES.
Collaborate with Purchasing, Production, Quality Control, and other departments to ensure smooth operations.
Support and deliver inventory-related training sessions to team members as needed.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives supporting company expansion and operational scalability.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field preferred.
Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or related roles is a plus
Hands-on experience with SAP, MES, or WMES systems is required.
Familiarity with physical inventory audits and material custody practices.
Strong attention to detail, accountability, and ability to maintain accurate records.
Strong working knowledge of SAP and MES/WMES systems.
Ability to troubleshoot inventory and transactional issues in real time.
Excellent organizational and analytical skills to maintain high accuracy levels.
Strong communication and collaboration skills across departments.
Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and handle exceptions effectively.
Knowledge of ESD, FIFO, and standard inventory control practices.
Location
This position is full-time and on-site at our Sugar Land, Texas, headquarters in Houston.
