Job Description

Position: Inventory SpecialistLocation: Rochester, NY

Summary: Nesco Resource is seeking a detail-oriented Inventory Specialist to join a precision manufacturing team in Rochester, NY. This temp-to-perm role is responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy, ensuring material availability, and supporting production operations within an AS9100-certified manufacturing environment. The Inventory Specialist will oversee inventory transactions, cycle counting, traceability, work order issuance, and ERP inventory management while partnering with Production, Purchasing, and Quality teams to ensure inventory integrity and uninterrupted manufacturing operations.

Pay Rate:

  • $22.00 - $25.00/Hour (Based On Experience)

Shift(s):

  • 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday

Job Duties:

  • Maintain accurate inventory records to ensure 100% material availability and transaction accuracy
  • Enforce complete lot, batch, and serial number traceability in accordance with AS9100 standards
  • Lead daily cycle count activities, investigate inventory discrepancies, and implement corrective actions
  • Monitor inventory levels and manage age-sensitive materials using First-In, First-Out (FIFO) practices
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve inventory variances through root cause analysis
  • Process and manage non-conforming materials following established Material Review Board (MRB) procedures
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready stockroom environment
  • Verify inventory transactions including receipts, transfers, adjustments, and stock movements within the ERP system
  • Coordinate accurate kitting and issuance of raw materials and hardware for manufacturing work orders
  • Process returned materials from the production floor and update inventory records accordingly
  • Collaborate with Purchasing and Finance to resolve shipping discrepancies and inventory documentation issues
  • Work closely with Production, Planning, and Quality teams to expedite critical material shortages
  • Coordinate work order releases based on production schedules and material availability
  • Maintain inventory documentation in compliance with company policies and aerospace quality standards
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on inventory accuracy and operational efficiency

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Previous inventory control, stockroom, warehouse, or manufacturing experience required
  • Experience working in an AS9100, ISO, aerospace, or regulated manufacturing environment preferred
  • Advanced proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (JD Edwards, SAP, Oracle, Epicor, or similar)
  • Ability to read work orders, Bills of Material (BOMs), and manufacturing documentation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to verify part numbers, quantities, and documentation accurately
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills
  • Forklift certification or experience preferred
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

  • Manufacturing and stockroom environment with exposure to moving mechanical equipment, airborne particles, and moderate to loud noise levels
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the shift
  • Frequent lifting and moving of materials weighing 30 pounds or more
  • Regular use of computers, inventory scanners, and warehouse equipment
  • Must possess close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Required to follow all company safety procedures and quality standards
