Job Description
A busy IP team at an AmLaw 200 firm in Atlanta is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to support attorneys with patent and trademark matters. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and comfort working in a fast-paced, highly digital environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, edit, and file IP documents with the USPTO (patent applications, amendments, IDS, office action responses, assignments, etc.)
- Manage and maintain client files, trademark portfolios, and document management systems (iManage/FileSite)
- Prepare client and foreign associate correspondence and reporting letters
- Track deadlines and coordinate with docketing to ensure timely filings
- Handle billing tasks, including time entry, proformas, and invoice edits
- Process expense reports, vendor invoices, and new matter intake
- Provide general administrative support to attorneys as needed
Qualifications
- 5+ years of legal assistant experience, ideally in intellectual property
- Strong knowledge of USPTO rules, filings, and systems (EFS, TEAS, TTAB)
- Experience with IP docketing systems (e.g., CPI) and document management systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe
- Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking skills
- Ability to work independently and support a high-volume practice
