Description: | Under the direction of the Storm Water Lead Worker, this position is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and inspecting the Plat A flood irrigation system, in order to deliver water to customers. Operates vehicles and hand tools. This seasonal position may work up to 40 hours per week during irrigation season. |
Duties: | - Inspect and remove irrigation blockages and debris, before, during, and after watering schedule.
- Follow a preventative maintenance program (cleaning and spraying).
- Understand and operate irrigation system and assist with the installation and/or repairs of the irrigation pipelines and related structures.
- Troubleshoot and solve irrigation water user complaints and issues.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with irrigation system users and the general public.
- Administer release of water into irrigation system and ensure that structures and pipelines are working properly to avoid risk of property damage.
- Monitor flows throughout irrigation system, adjust and inspect for potential maintenance problems, overflows, and misuse of irrigation system.
- Drive irrigation system routes day or night in order to haul off debris while checking flows.
- Ensure head gates are open to the different distribution ditches that coincide with watering schedule to make certain irrigation system users receive water according to schedule.
- Follow the Springville City Public Works safety program.
- Maintain and promote a positive work environment.
- Assist Storm Water division as needed.

Qualifications: | - Must possess a valid Utah Driver's License.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be self-starting and able to work unsupervised day or night.
- May be required to drive personal vehicle.
- Reimbursement will be given on a per mile basis if personal vehicle use is needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Must be able to: - Read and understand written and oral instructions.
- Be available for day or night shifts including weekends and holidays during irrigation schedule.
- Follow and implement instructions.
- Work outdoors in all types of weather.
- Work well with the public while carrying out job functions.

Physical Demands: | This position requires the employee be able to: - Lift up to 50 pounds regularly; bend, kneel, walk, or stand for long periods of time.
- Have enough physical strength and agility to perform required work.
