IS Design Director HVAC, Mechanical DesignEmployment Type: Full-Time | ExemptPay Range: $135,000 $180,000Location Options (2 Openings): Philadelphia, PASchedule: Remote with 25% TravelWheeler Staffing Partners is hiring on behalf of our client for an IS Design Director HVAC, Mechanical Design. This is a key leadership role that will manage and guide the design team within the IS Engineering department. The position offers a hybrid work structure with travel to project sites and office locations, and is available in multiple major markets.Position OverviewThe IS Design Director is responsible for overseeing the execution of mechanical design projects, ensuring operational excellence, adherence to industry standards, and alignment with organizational goals. This individual will lead a team of skilled engineers and designers, drive continuous improvement, and foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and collaboration across cross-functional teams.Key Responsibilities
- Direct and oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of design projects aligned with scope, schedule, and quality expectations.
- Utilize design software including AutoCAD and Revit to guide the production of high-quality deliverables.
- Collaborate with internal departments to coordinate design efforts and ensure effective communication and integration.
- Lead and mentor a high-performing design teamassigning tasks, setting performance goals, conducting evaluations, and promoting growth.
- Develop and enforce design standards and operating procedures to ensure consistency, safety, and compliance across projects.
- Manage budgets and labor forecasts to optimize resources; review expenses and ensure alignment with company financial protocols.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships by providing regular updates, identifying project risks or scope changes, and driving solutions.
- Contribute to broader company initiatives and culture, taking on additional responsibilities as needed.
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- OR 15+ years of experience in mechanical, electrical, building automation systems, programming, or building operations
- 5+ years of leadership or supervisory experience
- Strong leadership, team-building, and communication skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong attention to safety, detail, and quality
- Ability to lead and present technical discussions related to project scopes of work
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Approximately 25% travel to job sites and office locations
