Job Description

Firm Risk Management

Firm Risk Management (FRM) supports Morgan Stanley to achieve its business goals by partnering with business units across the Firm to realize efficient risk-adjusted returns, acting as a strategic advisor to the Board and protecting the Firm from exposure to losses as a result of credit, market, liquidity, operational, model and other risks.

Background on the Position

The role is within the FRM’s Credit Risk Management department as part of the Financial Institutions Credit coverage team, dedicated to supporting the Firm’s Securitized Products Lending. The business coverage includes highly structured lending across a range of warehouse loan products.

The principal responsibilities of the role include the monitoring and evaluation of operational risks associated with structured lending.  This includes monitoring and tracking regular agent reporting, confirming closing checklists, monitoring of first line processes checking the health of collateral loans, and reporting the results of monitoring processes to senior management.  Fulfillment of these responsibilities involves the following:

Primary Responsibilities

  • Coverage includes all silos within the FSL portfolio.
  • Familiarity with legal documentation associated with loan facilities.
  • Monitor and track agent reporting associated with a diverse portfolio of facilities.
  • Monitor and track first line business processes to ensure completion and timeliness.
  • Report results of monitoring processes to senior management in Credit and the First Line.
  • Where required, escalate deviations and delays for assessment with a recommendation on a course of action.

    Experience:

    Bachelor’s degree required; MBA is a plus

  • 5 – 8 years of related work experience preferred with a major financial institution; title commensurate with experience
  • Experience in operational risk and reporting
  • Experience with financial institutions, private equity funds or insurance companies desired
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, balancing multiple deliverables
  • Team player with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

    Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $120,000 and $205,,000 year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
