Job Title: IT Healthcare Consultant IV&V Technical Engineer (Senior SQL DBA) Work Location: 100% Remote (Candidate must be a current SC resident) Travel: Up to 25% annually (project-dependent, onsite meetings as required) Contract Duration: 12 months (with possible extension) Interview Process: 1 round, virtual About the Project This high-visibility project supports various existing and new solutions within South Carolinas Department of Health and Human Services (SCDHHS). The team consists of Clemson IT professionals, experienced consultants, and state staff, working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. The initiative leverages modern technologies, requires strong teamwork, and values flexibility, innovation, and self-motivation. Role Overview The Senior SQL Database Administrator (DBA) will support development and infrastructure teams in managing multiple databases. This role requires both strategic input and hands-on SQL development. The DBA will work closely with Clemsons Oracle and IDMS DBA teams, as well as cross-agency stakeholders, to ensure secure, efficient, and scalable database operations. Key Responsibilities Advise development/product teams on data model changes and extensions. Perform hands-on SQL development and application/database support (aligned with Microsoft best practices). Collaborate with Clemsons Oracle/IDMS DBA teams to manage test, staging, and production databases. Develop and execute data migration plans for legacy-to-new data transfers. Coordinate with vendors, providers, associations, and other agencies. Monitor and analyze performance data, recommend solutions, and implement optimizations. Participate in a 24x7 on-call support rotation. Document and develop database operational procedures. Contribute to project planning, including effort estimation and resource allocation. Required Skills (Ranked by Importance) Proven enterprise-level SQL DBA experience in Linux/Windows environments. Experience with Data Guard. Strong background supporting development teams building web-based solutions. Knowledge of database scalability, operations, and best practices. Hands-on experience with IT development and implementation projects. Strong project planning skills (effort estimation, resource allocation). Excellent communication and presentation skills (written & verbal). Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across teams. High integrity and confidence to make critical decisions under visibility. Preferred Skills Familiarity with Oracle Enterprise Manager. Healthcare IT experience, particularly handling PHI/PII data. Experience with data and traffic encryption. Vendor management background. Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) knowledge. Medicaid operations or public sector experience. Education Bachelors degree in a technical, business, or related field (required). Masters degree (preferred). SQL training/certification from a recognized provider (beneficial). Candidate Requirements Must be a current South Carolina resident (no relocation/nationwide applicants). Resume must be 24 pages (manager request). Strong communication skills are essential.
