Department Overview

The Technology Solutions (“TS”) Department is responsible for designing and delivering state of the art technology solutions that are designed to create efficiency, mitigate risk and grow revenue for the Firm. Technology Solutions is also responsible for defining, managing and executing a robust Cyber Security program following the NIST Cyber Security Framework. Technology Solutions focuses on technical excellence through innovative application designs, robust data integration and analytics, high availability infrastructure and gold level service for our key stakeholders with information security embedded throughout. Critical functions within Technology Solutions include Project Management, Vendor Management, Business Analysis, Enterprise Data Governance and Stewardship, Application Development and 3rd Party Integration, Strategic and Secure Infrastructure and Operations. The Technology Solutions Department collaborates closely with Firm leadership and business unit heads to develop plans in line with business objectives.

Position Responsibilities

The TS Team is looking for an experienced Solution Architect to manage implementation and ongoing support of SS&C’s Geneva Portfolio Accounting application. This role requires deep understanding of the portfolio accounting and reconciliation function within an Investment Management organization and an understanding of the Geneva Portfolio Accounting System functionality and configuration options.

Responsibilities include:

  • Understanding the current functionality in the legacy platform and migrating / architecting functionality to the new Geneva platform
  • Working with stakeholders to gather and document business requirements for data projects
  • Understanding and translating business requirements, working with product owners and Developers to prioritize for implementation
  • Analyzing business processes and finding opportunities for improvement through data-driven insights
  • Ensuring data integrity and accuracy by developing and implementing data management practices
  • Working with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and address data gaps, work with TS teams to implement data gap solutions
  • Documenting requirements (business and technical), processes and solutions
  • Communicating insights, progress and outcomes to stakeholders and ensuring alignment throughout the project lifecycle
  • Promoting data governance practices and raising awareness of data governance importance across the organization
  • Finding opportunities for process improvement within the business analysis and data reporting workflows
  • Proposing and implementing enhancements to improve overall efficiency, data quality and user experience
  • Supporting project management efforts by assisting with planning, tracking deliverables and coordinating with cross-function teams to ensure timely project execution
  • Serving as a point of escalation and ongoing support for the Data Governance Committee and users of data extracts

Candidate Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required
  • 10+ years of experience in financial services is required couple with knowledge of fund accounting & operations functions within Investment Management
  • Expert level proficiency in the Geneva Accounting Platform
  • Strong understanding of SQL for querying databases and data manipulation Knowledge of SQL
  • Knowledge of Python is a plus
  • Strong quantitative orientation, analytical skills and seasoned judgment as well as a high level of intellectual curiosity and tolerance for navigating ambiguity
  • Effective time management skills and the ability prioritize multiple initiatives are crucial
  • Flexible and willing to adapt to meet the needs of the team
  • Self-motivated, team oriented and able to multi-task
  • Desire to learn and ability to apply takeaways to business issues

  • Vendor Management:  Manages and coordinates with external vendors. Researches and identifies new vendors as needed and monitors performance.
  • Relationship Management:  Builds and maintains effective partnerships with internal clients and end users by advising on their needs and options, advocating for their business within the Technology Solutions department and managing expectations appropriately.
  • Project / Program Management:  Manages Technology Solutions project elements considering conflicting priorities, interdependencies, business objectives, communications and available resources.

Compensation and Benefits

For Illinois Only: It is expected that the base salary range for this position will be $130,000 to $200,000. Actual salaries may vary based on factors such as skills, experiences and qualifications for the role. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial and / or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits such as vacation, sick time and parental leave) dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, the employee will be in an ‘at-will position’ and the Firm reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time including for reasons related to individual performance, Firm or individual department / team performance and market factors.
