Union Tank Car Company is seeking new employees at our full-service rail tank car repair shop in Altoona, Pennsylvania. The Company's regulatory, engineering and commercial expertise make UTLX the preferred source of railcars and services for many of its customers. Owned by the Marmon Group and Berkshire Hathaway, UTLX headquarters is in Chicago's financial district, close to major public transportation hubs. We are looking for a 1st shift Janitor. Base pay $21.01 per hour.

Primary Job Functions

Below is a general description of the essential functions of this job. This is not an exhaustive list and employees in these classifications frequently may be required to perform additional duties. Not all classifications will be required to perform all job functions.

• Maintains the appearance, sanitary condition, and cleanliness of plant buildings and grounds.
• Performs dusting, wiping, polishing, washing, sweeping, and sanitizing.
• Operates equipment such as riding sweepers, lawn mower, and small snow removal equipment.
• Maintains area in a neat and orderly manner and reports work hazards.

Knowledge and Skills Required

• Must have janitorial experience; experience in manufacturing/industrial environment preferred.
• Must be able to work effectively and efficiently both as a member of a team and independently.
• Able to follow written and/or verbal instructions with minimal supervision.
• Dependable and reliable to show up for scheduled work shifts including overtime.
• Willingness to wear required PPE at all times and always work safely.
• Ability to understand and follow UTLX operating procedures and policies based on safety and field training.

Environmental Conditions

• Work indoors and outdoors, may be exposed to the elements.
• Physical effort in lifting and carrying materials and attaching rigging devices. Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Extends hands and arms in any direction to lift, pull, and carry tools and equipment.
• Kneels, crouches, bends in order to complete tasks.
• Climbs various heights in order to complete tasks.
• Exposed to dirt, fumes, smoke, and heat.
• Possible exposure to hazardous materials or hazardous waste from leaks or spills of these materials while moving or storing them.
