Job Coach. Vocational Services - Prospect Meadow Farm.

Pittsfield, MA.

Part-time / Monday-Wednesday-Friday

8AM - 4PM

Summary:

We're looking for another outstanding "people person" with a background in farming, landscaping and carpentry to be part of our dynamic vocational services program. At Prospect Meadow Farm, everyone is hands-on-from planting, cultivating, and harvesting crops; to feeding, watering, and grooming the animals; to performing landscaping work at the farm and throughout the community.

Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside farmhands to coach and support them in various aspects of their daily work.
  • Collaborate with other staff on the team to provide the best therapeutic work environment.
  • Develop progress notes describing each individual's contact and how that contact relates to treatment goals.
  • Use hand tools, such as shovels, trowels, hoes, shears, and other tools as needed.
  • Use power lawnmowers, leaf blowers, and garden clippers and other necessary tools.
  • Tilling soil and applying fertilizers; transplanting, weeding, thinning, or pruning crops; cleaning, packing, and loading harvested products.
  • Feed and water animals, clean cages and tanks and perform any other necessary clean up.
  • Perform grooming such as washing fur, trimming nails and first aid such as attending to minor cuts.
  • Perform a variety of tasks necessary to achieve a pleasant and functional outdoor environment. Mow lawns, rake leaves, trim hedges and trees; plant flowers and otherwise ensure that the grounds of the farm are attractive, orderly, and healthy.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Experience in the human service, or related field preferred.
  • Experience with the use of gardening tools and landscaping machinery.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable Motor Vehicle Record.
  • Ability to physically perform all tasks.
