Students in Grades K–12 attend school in uniform for 200 instructional days each year—well beyond the traditional school calendar, and benefit from a school day that is approximately 60 minutes longer than average. K–8 Music Teacher

Full-Time | Malden, MA

Position Overview

Mystic Valley Regional Charter School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Music Teacher to lead its Kindergarten through Grade 8 music program. The ideal candidate is a passionate educator who inspires a love of music, builds strong foundational skills, and engages students through dynamic, purposeful instruction.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement the K–8 music curriculum in alignment with Core Knowledge standards
• Deliver engaging, high-quality instruction grounded in clear and measurable learning objectives
• Assess student progress regularly and provide timely, meaningful feedback through progress reports and report cards
• Collaborate with colleagues in the Specials Department and maintain consistent communication with the Assistant Director
• Establish and maintain a structured, positive classroom environment aligned with the school’s discipline model
• Participate in faculty meetings and ongoing professional development
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Assistant Director

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Music or Music Education required
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to assess student performance and adapt instruction to meet diverse learning needs
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to support data-informed instruction
• Demonstrated ability to build positive, professional relationships with students, families, and colleagues
• Knowledge of state and federal education regulations, as well as school policies and expectations
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively
• Strong foundation in music pedagogy, curriculum development, and instructional best practices
• Ability to design and implement lessons aligned with school-wide goals
• Successful completion of all applicable MTEL exams within one year of employment
• U.S. work authorization required

Additional Information

This is a full-time position with an annual appointment and yearly performance evaluation.
