Job Description

A Lower School Kindergarten Instructional Assistant is a full-time employee who is passionate about supporting the kindergarten students and teachers of the Lower School as they live out Forsyth Country Day School's mission of preparing our students for what's ahead. The Kindergarten Instructional Assistant will be responsible for helping the lead classroom teacher foster growth in all domains of student development. Instructional Assistants conduct small group literacy and math lessons and will be responsible for planning and executing these lessons with the consultation of the lead classroom teacher. Instructional Assistants are committed to growth as professionals and individuals, and value and respect every member of the community.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support a developmentally appropriate classroom environment that reflects the children's learning and growth
Support student performance in all areas of development: social/emotional, literacy, and math
Plan and execute small group lessons in literacy and math (for all student levels) using FCDS curriculum standards
Attend grade-level meetings and division meetings
Support appropriate instruction in line with the school standards, curriculum, and student needs
Create a positive educational climate for students to learn in an atmosphere of respect and rapport
Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with colleagues, students, and families based on trust, understanding, and respect
Manage student behavior in the classroom by utilizing effective classroom management strategies
Attend professional development
