Job Description

Location: Galena, KS

Position Summary

The Laboratory Technician supports Manufacturing, Quality, Formulation operations by performing routine laboratory testing, material inspections, documentation, and data analysis. This role helps ensure product quality, regulatory compliance, and adherence to established safety and quality system requirements.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform routine physical and analytical testing of raw materials, in-process samples and finished product, including particle size distribution, pH, emulsion stability, specific gravity in accordance with approved SOPs and test methods.
  • Collect, Record & Analyze Manufacturing/Lab/Quality data in graphical form.
  • Monitor and approve line start-ups and clearances for both liquid and granular production in collaboration with manufacturing.
  • Support formulation chemists in closure of Manufacturing batches in D365 & assist in D365 Inventory management.
  • Catalog, label, retain, store, and retrieve samples in accordance with retention and storage procedures.
  • Support in processing documentation for inbound/outbound loads for raw materials for Manufacturing/Quality Lab Processes.
  • Monitor and assist with correcting all observed non-conformances during production.
  • Follow all applicable SOPs, work instructions, safety procedures, and quality policies; promptly report nonconformances, deviations, or safety concerns to supervision.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices and comply with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) requirements, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Perform other related duties assigned in support of laboratory, manufacturing, or quality operations.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma with experience in related laboratory workplace; or Associates or BA/BS in a science degree.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data entry, basic formulas, charts).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Competent basic math skills.
  • Ability to follow written procedures and instructions accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate professionally.
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks with limited supervision when required.
  • Ability to lift to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the work shift.
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs to perform inspections. label, retain, store, and retrieve samples in accordance with retention and storage procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous laboratory, manufacturing, or quality experience preferred but not required.
