Job Description:
The Laboratory Coordinator is primarily responsible for managing both operation and inventory of academic laboratories in the Division of Arts & Sciences.
Job Responsibilities:
50% Maintains inventory of laboratory equipment and supplies
Disburses equipment and supplies to faculty and students
Dispenses chemicals according to government safety regulations
Prepares bid lists for filling inventory requirements
30% Assists faculty in development of class presentations requiring laboratory items.
Surpluses or scraps items per inventory and property management guidelines
Disposes of chemical waste following appropriate regulations
Maintains safety data sheet library
Maintains collections
20% Meets with sales representatives of vendors offering laboratory equipment and supplies
Makes minor repairs on equipment and refers major repairs to vendor technicians
Updates laboratory procedure manuals as needed
Oversees student laboratory assistants
Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Associates of Science or Certificate in a science or related field
Two years specialized training in applied science or a relate field
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelors of Science
Two years specialized training in applied science or a related field.
Job Competencies:
Knowledge of general laboratory procedures- Advanced
Knowledge of scientific subjects such as biology, chemistry or physics- Proficient
Knowledge of governmental safety regulations regarding laboratory chemicals and supplies Proficient
Ability to maintain inventory of equipment and supplies in a scientific laboratory- Proficient
Ability to operate and maintain laboratory equipment- Proficient
Salary: $40.000.00-- $45,000.00
