Seasonal Public Works Laborer
Full-Time, Seasonal Position | $17.66/Hour
Anticipated start date is April 1st.
Join the Tooele City Public Works Department and make a difference in your community. We're hiring seasonal laborers to help keep our city safe, clean, and looking its best. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience performing a variety of entry-level, non-safety-sensitive tasks that support the maintenance and beautification of public spaces and facilities.
An example of duties include:
- Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of public grounds and facilities.
Use hand tools and small power equipment for tasks like mowing, trimming, weeding, and debris removal.
Assist with minor landscaping and painting tasks.
Operate various equipment, including chain saws, chippers, and ladders.
Operate small equipment including blowers, lawn mowers, pressure washers.
Drive to worksites, tow trailers, and refuel equipment.
Follow all safety guidelines and report issues.
To be considered, applicants must:
Be at least 18 years old by hire date.
Must possess and maintain a valid Utah State Driver's License (or if licensed in another state, obtain Utah license within 1 month), 12 months experience driving (not including time for learner's permit), and maintain a driving record acceptable for Tooele City's insurance and risk management standards.
Demonstrate familiarity with basic manual and power hand tools.
- Have some knowledge of hazards and safety precautions associated with construction.
Be able to work in the outdoor environment.
Be able to perform the physical duties of the position.
Work requires regular physical agility including, but not limited to, walking, climbing, kneeling, pulling, pushing, bending at the waist and knees, working in other prone positions, have sight sufficient to perform all essential duties safety. Must also be able to regularly lift 25 lbs., and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. Must be able to occasionally lift up to 100 lbs. with the assistance of another employee, dolly, or other lifting device.
