Job Description

Length: Temporary role assisting for a year Location: Downtown Houston located near Travis and Lamar St. Pay Rate: $35/hr.Job Objective: The Land Owner Relations Representative serves as the primary point of contact for mineral and royalty owners, providing timely and accurate responses to inquiries related to revenue payments, ownership records, tax documentation, and account maintenance. This role resolves routine owner inquiries, maintains owner account information, and escalates complex ownership and title-related issues to Division Order Techs or Analysts as appropriate.Essential Job Responsibilities:            
  • Answer incoming owner relations inquiries regarding various issues including Revenue, Land, Division orders, JIB, A/R and AP.
  • Initiate owner account maintenance requests via the ticketing system, including: Address updates, name changes (non-title related), tax identification number updates and basic account corrections.
  • Verify Direct deposit enrollments and updates as needed.
  • Log owner inquiries in a case tracking system and route to the appropriate department within the organization if necessary.
  • Initiate research required to address owner inquiries.
  • Document and track unresolved issues, providing status updates to owners in a timely manner.
  • Provide clear communication to owners regarding: Suspended funds (basic explanation), required documentation for common account updates and payment schedules and reporting cycles.
  • Manage difficult or emotional situations involving dissatisfied owners and/or identify and escalate priority issues and report to management.
  • Maintain working knowledge of ongoing Hilcorp projects that will impact owners, including but not limited to: Acquisitions, divestitures and owner outreach initiatives.
  • Build relationships and trust with owners. Engage in active listening with callers, confirming or clarifying information as needed.
  • Work closely with various departments in the organization including Revenue, Land and JIB.
  • Adhere to the company’s values – integrity, ownership, urgency, alignment, and innovation.

  • Adhere to established work schedule, attendance standards and punctuality to work and meetings.
Other Job Responsibilities:
  • Maintain employee confidence and protect company assets, including intellectual property, by keeping information confidential.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
  • One (1) – Two (2) years minimum of administrative experience or working in a call center / helpdesk environment is ideal. Experience in oil and gas owner relations, division orders, or revenue accounting preferred.
  • Strong communication both written and verbal. Knowledge of basic oil and gas terminology preferred.
  • Great active listening skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and rapport building skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Adaptability and flexibility; comfortable working in fact-paced environments.
  • Ability to solve problems accurately.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public.
  • Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities.
  • Proficiency in the use and application of the following software:
  • Required: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook).
  • Preferred: Working knowledge of oil and gas accounting and land systems (Preferably SAP & Quorum).
Education Requirements:
  • Required: Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent or any equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating sufficient knowledge, ability and skill to handle the duties and responsibilities of the position.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year university or college.
