Job Description:
Pape-Dawson is seeking a paid Landscape Design Intern to join our Landscape Architecture group based in our Savannah, GA office. This internship will focus on learning the ins and outs of Landscape Architecture within a multi-disciplinary firm with professional development at the forefront of our internal curriculum. Working in tandem with our surveyors and engineers allows for seamless design process, learning opportunities, and a better product for both our clients and the users of the spaces we create.
The ideal candidate is creative, collaborative, and has a passion for designing places that are authentic, innovative, and functional. The position will work on a broad range of projects including master-planned communities, parks, green infrastructure, retail, detailed urban spaces, mixed use spaces, civic centers
Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation of design concepts, schematic design, cost estimates, and code analysis and presentation as assigned
Develop design concepts by hand graphics and computer graphic programs, including SketchUp, Lumion, AutoCAD, and Adobe Suite
Maintain project communications and information
Prepare designs previously originated or refine and develop sketches provided by others
Learn to read and understand construction drawings, digital mapping, and other related documentation
Additional related duties as needed
Qualifications
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture or a related field from an accredited program
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and interest or foundational experience in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite
Knowledge of construction techniques, plant materials, and sustainable design practices is a plus
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
