The purpose of this position is to lead the landscaping crew for The Grounds Guys of Iowa City. This role will be responsible for supervising a landscaping crew that performs tasks such as: Tree trimming, pruning, laying ground tile, using pavers for a pathway, and even building privacy fences and retaining walls. This is a very important position within this company and will have promotion potential based on performance. Job Requirements:
· You MUST have a current, valid and unrestricted Iowa Driver’s license with a clean driving record.
· At least TWO years’ experience in landscape installation/repair ISrequired to be eligible for Team Lead.
· Previous leadership experience is preferred and references to your work is required.
· Willingness to work occasional (paid) overtime.
· You must be able to lift 50 lbs to waist level and perform all other requirements associated with a position of this nature.
Specific Responsibilities:
· Demonstrate responsibility as a leader, setting an example by being on time and ready for work every day. Attend the morning huddle (8:00-8:15 am) and be ready to be an active participant in the huddle.
· Be able to learn the LMN Time software so you will be able to log you and your team into and out of job sites as is necessary. Be able to follow directions and be willing to share suggestions to make the job more efficient.
· It is a requirement that you have had a supervisory, team lead, foreman, or other leader role. We are looking for someone who is able to not only understand the tasks associated in the realm of landscaping but is also able to receive instruction and brief the crew as such.
· Be firm in leadership but respectful to those you lead; both customers and management alike. Be able to manage team of up to 6 people while performing landscape installation services; be able to motivate, coach/train and mentor team members. Be able to address clients’ questions, comments and concerns based on your knowledge of the industry.
· Be able to operate or back a truck pulling trailer, operate equipment needed for installations, landscape repair and enhancements. Must have knowledge and experience in landscape installations. Perform landscape installations, repairs and enhancements as the schedule dictates. Have knowledge and experience operating any equipment needed for landscape installations or repairs as the project dictates.
· Be ready and able to assist with other services provided by The Grounds Guys of Iowa City as the schedule dictates, even if it does not fall under the landscaping job description (i.e. lawn maintenance, lawn or bed clean ups, holiday light hanging, snow removal, etc).
· Prepare team performance reports.
· Assist with employee recruiting and selection.
· Assist with cost estimates when needed.
· Be able to perform landscape enhancement activities such as mulch application, plantings, top soil application, lawn seeding, etc. & have knowledge of equipment required for those tasks.
· These are some of the specific responsibilities required for the job of Landscape Crew Lead but may not be the only tasks you may be asked to perform as the Landscape Crew Lead.
