Job Description

Are you experienced with CNC machining, Mastercam, and laser equipment, and looking for a position where you own more of the process?

We are seeking an experienced manufacturing professional to program, set up, and operate CNC laser cutting equipment while supporting a broader fabrication operation.

Your current title might be:

  • Laser Programmer
  • CNC Laser Programmer
  • Laser Technician
  • Laser Cutting Technician
  • CNC Laser Operator
  • Senior Laser Operator
  • CNC Programmer
  • CNC Machinist
  • Fabrication Technician
  • Fabrication Specialist
  • CNC Fabrication Technician
  • Manufacturing Technician

We care more about your machining knowledge, programming ability, and ability to produce quality work than your exact job title.

What You’ll Do

  • Program, set up, and operate CNC laser cutting equipment.
  • Develop and modify programs using Mastercam.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, dimensions, job travelers, and production requirements.
  • Verify measurements and make sure completed parts meet job specifications.
  • Operate rollers, brake presses, machine polishers, and other fabrication equipment as needed.
  • Understand current machining and fabrication processes and help keep work moving efficiently.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Drafters, the Shop Foreman, Team Leads, and other production personnel.
  • Help troubleshoot programming, setup, material, and production issues.
  • Manage material inventory associated with designated equipment.
  • Maintain equipment and a clean, organized work area.

    What We’re Looking For

This position requires someone with more technical depth than a machine operator.

    Candidates will bring:

  • Approximately 5 years of machining, CNC, laser, or related manufacturing experience.
  • At least 1 year of hands-on Mastercam experience.
  • Experience programming and setting up CNC or laser equipment.
  • Strong blueprint reading and measurement skills.
  • Understanding of machining and manufacturing processes.
  • CNC programming experience.
  • Experience working independently through equipment setup and production problems.
  • Ability to communicate with engineering, drafting, production, and shop leadership.

Experience with SolidWorks, 3D modeling, brake presses, rollers, or broader fabrication processes is also valuable.

    Technical Training

Completion of a machining program from an accredited trade or technical school is preferred.

    More Than an Operator Role

We are especially interested in experienced CNC and fabrication professionals who want responsibility beyond loading material and running an existing program.

In this position, you will be involved from blueprint and programming through setup and finished part.

You will have the opportunity to use your machining knowledge, Mastercam experience, and problem-solving skills while working across several areas of the fabrication operation.

This could be a strong fit if you are currently working as a CNC Programmer, CNC Machinist, Fabrication Technician, or Manufacturing Technician and have experience with laser cutting or want to bring your CNC programming background into a broader laser and fabrication position.

If you understand how programming, setup, blueprints, materials, and machine processes come together to produce a quality part, we would like to hear from you.

Please submit a resume for consideration. Only those qualified applicants that provide a resume will be contacted. If you would like to learn more about Manufacturing, Production, or Operations opportunities, contact David McKnight with gpac at 608-514-9815
