Now Hiring: Lateral Firefighter Paramedic Location: South Jordan City Fire Department Job Type: Full-Time (Rotating 48-Hour Shifts) Application Deadline: Open until October 1, 2026 The City of South Jordan is hiring full time Lateral Firefighter Paramedics to join our Fire Department. This position provides emergency medical services, firefighting, and rescue support across a wide variety of incidents. Eligible candidates must have at least one year of verifiable full-time experience as Firefighter Paramedic / EMT. Key Responsibilities:Respond to fire, rescue, medical, and hazardous materials emergencies
Provide advanced and basic life support; assess, treat, and transport patients
Perform fire suppression activities including search and rescue, ventilation, and overhaul
Operate and maintain firefighting and emergency medical equipment
Conduct life safety inspections, hydrant testing, and pre-incident planning
Deliver public education programs on safety and emergency preparedness
Participate in ongoing training, station maintenance, and equipment readiness.Complete reports, documentation, and administrative tasks Minimum Qualifications:High school diploma or GEDValid Utah Class D Driver LicenseUtah Paramedic license
Must have at least one year of verifiable, full-time firefighting experience
Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advance Life Support CertificationCPR certification for healthcare providers
Utah Firefighter II and Hazardous Materials Operations certifications or ability to obtain
Must meet department physical ability standards Skills & Abilities:Knowledge of emergency medical procedures, fire suppression tactics, and rescue operations
Proficient in the use of firefighting and EMS equipment
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to make sound decisions in high-stress situations
