Job Description

Law Clerk II - Washington, DC (Remote/Hybrid)

Duration: 12+ months

Day-to-day Responsibilities:

Conduct complex legal research and prepare draft legal documents such as motions, briefs, and memoranda of law.
Review documents for relevance and privilege and assist attorneys with all phases of litigation.
Act independently or as a team leader on larger projects.
Serve as a primary interface with trial attorneys, experts, and other staff.
Analyze relevant policy and legislative initiatives, prepare written work products, and make effective recommendations.
Support and implement policy and guidelines for programs and processes.
Oversee practice areas including immigration, civil, criminal, and other program areas.
Brief attorneys on pertinent facts, issues, and case law, and draft correspondence and legal documents.

Required Skills:

Substantive legal practice experience with courtroom experience as a plus.
Sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems and legal research procedures.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Familiarity with legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources.
Ability to make responsible decisions on short notice and adapt to unexpected developments.
Working knowledge of the Federal Rules of Civil and Criminal Procedure.

Education:

Law degree (J.D.), License by a state bar (Preferred)
